President Obama Reacts To FG, Boko Haram Ceasefire Deal

The president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama has called on all involved to implement the ceasefire agreement which was announced over the weekend by the Federal Government.
The Nigerian government on Friday, October 17, 2014, had claimed to have reached a deal with Boko Haram sect to ceasefire and also release over 200 abducted Chibok schoolgirls in its captivity.
According to Leadership report, Obama who spoke through his through the deputy spokesperson of the State Department, Ms. Marie Harf, at a press briefing in Washington, DC, said he was aware of reports about a possible announcement by the Nigerian government of a ceasefire, adding that his administration would welcome an end to hostilities in Nigeria.
Darf said the American government would be filled with joy if the Federal Government and the insurgents maintain the ceasefire agreement.
She said, “We confirm reports that a ceasefire has been announced and it appears to have been put into place. We would welcome that ceasefire and call on all parties both to implement and maintain such a ceasefire, and hope that such a ceasefire would herald the return of peace to the northeast. This is a region that has had far too little of that.

When asked if the American government was involved in the ceasefire talks, the US official stated that Americans were in no way involved in the ceasefire talks or in the discussions.
“I don’t believe so, but let me check. Not that I know of. But never say never; I’ll check” she added.
The ceasefire agreement between the Federal Government and Boko Haram sect, announced over the weekend has been trailed with a lot of controversies and doubts.
Barely 24 hours after the ceasefire announcement, Boko Haram terrorists allegedly carried out a series of deadly attacks on a number of Nigerian villages.
Two days later, no fewer than 25 members of the sect, were reportedly killed in a fierce battle with soldiers in Damboa town of Borno State.
