Good News: Nigeria’s Port Harcourt, Warri refineries commence petroleum production – NNPC

mail.google.com

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC says the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have commenced petroleum production after some in-house engineers conducted a nine-month rehabilitation on both facilities.

The oil corporation announced this in a statement released by its General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr Ohi Alegbe yesterday. The statement in part reads
“What this means is that both plants have resumed production of petroleum products. For now, about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day production capacity is being achieved, but it is projected that it will hit its installed 125,000 barrels per day capacity soon,”

The statement added that the Port Harcourt refinery would eventually hit five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.

Meet All The Ladies Davido Has Dated So Far

Davido is not the average 22-year-old. He is a super star artiste, heir to a billionaire father and a ladies’ man on many levels.
Following his twitter rants on July 28, wherein he downplayed reports of a likely reunion with his 19-year-old Guinean ex, Sira Kante, we have compiled a list of interesting facts about the ‘Back When’ singer and the women in his world as we know.
Sometime in May 2015, reports got around that the singer had fathered a baby by Sophie Momodu, but his camp put out a statement writing off any such thing.
We should do well to remember that with Sophie also called Belladona, it makes it at least four women we’ve seen around the man in his very short span so far as a celebrity, but most of these affairs have been denied at various points.

Speaking to TheNET.ng in May, David refuted claims of his new status as ‘father’.
‘Bloggers are just confused, Davido doesn’t have a child yet, his sister is still pregnant too. Davido simply put up a baby’s hand to signify a new beginning and it’s causing wahala’, his aide said in the chat.
Recall that in February 2012, pictures of Davido in bed with a certain Sonia Jumbo leaked and stirred major conversations across social media. Sonia, an 18-year-old undergraduate in a Ghanaian university at the time, met up with the Pop singer and his team at a gig and the rest is history.

There have also been repeated, though largely unconfirmed, reports linking him and a certain Staicey Brianar in a sexual relationship.
Staicey, also called Pendo, reportedly hooked up with self-titled Omo Baba Olowo at Kenyan night club, Galileo, in 2013.
‘He was perfect. He is much better than your ‘average Kenyan’. He is big. Both length and width and best part is, he really knows what he is working with. He has crazy moves; he kept it fresh for a couple hours. I am impressed. Definitely the best, ok maybe not the best I ever had, but he is up there,’ Staicey told Kenyan blog, African Eagle, after the romp.

Anyways, Davido has admitted paternity of the new born Imade from Abuja-based Belladona. He was at the baby shower in May, 2015.

He also recently copped a pair of custom-made Nike sneakers for baby Imade Adeleke, a gift he shared on social media on July 29. He looks to be easing into the new role smoothly. And it’s been pleasant his joining the league of daddies in Nigeria’s music circle.

What isn’t so pleasing is his recent denial of still being in a romantic affair with Sira Kante, not after we caught a glimpse of her with the OBO’s customized gold chain on Instagram.

Sira through her account (inkmyafrica) had put up an image of her with the chain on, and David via his davidoofficial account ‘liking’ it only a few minutes after on Sunday, July 26.
And so it’s quite disturbing this revelation, especially with David taking to Twitter to counter this.
He wrote; ‘Awon oniranu….rumour carrier.. Only Woman in my life right now is my daughter so blogs stop talking sh*t’ a few days ago, July 28 to be exact, taking the suspense surrounding him and Sira to new heights.

Nigerian student Victor Olalusi, scores 5.0 GPA in Russia, first in the world

The Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday in Abuja honoured Dr Victor Olalusi who scored 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow (RNRMU) in 2013, arguably the first in the world.
Olalusi, who was the best graduating student in the whole Russian Federation in 2013, studied in RNRMU under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement.

Olalusi previously had the best WAEC result in 2004, First Class  Architecture (FUTA) -2005. JAMB Best Science Student (JAMB score 322) – 2006. Cowbell Prize Award – 2006. Medicine First Merit list (OAU) – 2006. Highest OAU Post UME (score – 325)  – 2006.
Speaking at the event, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry said a lot of Nigerian students were brilliant but Olalusi was a genius. He said Olalusi had become an ambassador not only to the ministry but to Nigeria and Russia.

“We have to search the Guinness Book of Records for anybody who has achieved 5.0 in a university. It is curious and strange that all those that evaluated his performance could not find reason to reduce a point from him.

“You should be the ambassador of the Federal Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, Nigeria and the Russian Federation.

“I look forward to the day you will stand before the President to receive your honour. We have recommendations to that effect, ’’ Nwaobiala said.

He then urged Olalusi to continue to be a role model to young Nigerians and also called on him to explore opportunities in post graduate research. In her speech, Mrs Ifeoma Agunwa, the Director, Federal Scholarship Board, said Olalusi made 5.0 GPA in all the courses he took in the seven years he studied Medicine in Russia. She said “Olalusi never had a 4.99 GPA. Even in the Russian language class, he did not fall below 5.0.’’  In her citation on Olalusi, Agunwa said he ranked as one of the best students in the faculty which handed him a place in RNRMU’s Hall of fame for academic excellence. She said that Olalusi had registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and had the compulsory one-year housemanship training at State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.
According to her, he is presently going through the compulsory National Youth Service scheme in Rivers. Mr Artem Romanov, who represented the Russian Embassy, said that Olalusi’s feat was very significant for everybody in Russia.
Romanov said “Nigeria is blessed with abundant human potential which is officially acknowledged in Russia. “It has been acknowledged in the Russian Ministry of Education that Nigerians have a lot of exceptional talents. Genetically, Nigerians grasp knowledge easily. “Olalusi is a hardworking person. It is not easy to achieve such in Russia; it goes with talent and hard work. “I urge you to engage your knowledge in the development of your father land.’’ While showing his appreciation, Olalusi thanked God for his rare feat and also commended the Federal Government and the Scholarship Board for the opportunity given to young Nigerians to distinguish themselves.
Mr Olarewaju Olalusi, the father of Olalusi, said that his son’s achievement was as a result of hard work. Olalusi said his son did not attend high class schools but normal public schools which spoke volumes of the standard of education in Nigeria. He then urged parents to monitor their wards closely and make sure they were not distracted from their studies.

MH370 Wing Found On Remote Island

Part of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 may have been found in the Indian Ocean more than a year after the plane disappeared. Here are the latest updates:
The mystery of what happened to the plane from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing has sparked endless conspiracy theories and anguish for families who have struggled to find closure over their loved ones' deaths.
A massive multinational search effort of the southern Indian Ocean, the China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand in the months after the tragedy turned up no trace of the plane and all passengers and crew were eventually declared dead.
The last radar contact placed the aircraft over the Andaman Sea about 230 miles north-west of the Malaysian city of Penang.
The French island of Reunion is about 3,500 miles south-west of Penang and about 2,600 miles away from the current search area.
Malaysian investigators have been sent to verify the wreckage but even if they can prove it came from MH370, Australia's seabed search is likely to continue.

Ethiopia: Obama Holds Talks On Security, Human Rights

President Barack Obama huddled with Ethiopia's leaders Monday for talks on counterterrorism, human rights and regional security issues, including the crisis in neighboring South Sudan.
President Barack Obama with Ethiopian prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn, right, at Bole International Airport Addis Ababa , Ethiopia, Sunday...Obama's visit marks the first visit by a sitting U.S. president to Ethiopia. He arrived at the National Palace in the capital of Addis Ababa for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, followed by a joint news conference.
Later Monday, Obama was to convene a meeting of African leaders on the situation in South Sudan. The world's newest nation has been gripped by civil war for months, spurred by a conflict between warring factions in the government.
South Sudan is facing an Aug. 17 deadline to accept a peace and power-sharing agreement, though U.S. officials say they're pessimistic a deal will be reached. Obama's meeting with regional leaders is aimed in part at considering an international response if the deadline passes without a deal.
Obama arrived in Ethiopia on Sunday night after a stop in Kenya, his late father's homeland.
Like Kenya, Ethiopia has a fast-growing economy but faces challenges from the al-Shabab terrorist threat based across the border in Somalia. Ethiopia has partnered with the U.S. in the fight against terrorism, sharing intelligence with American officials and sending troops into Somalia to address instability there.
However, human rights groups and others say Obama's visit to Ethiopia lends an air of international legitimacy to a government that is using national security concerns as a pretext to stifle opposition and curtail basic freedoms. Ethiopia is the world's second-worst jailer of journalists in Africa, after Eritrea, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
"It undermines a lot of the presidential goals about good governance on the continent," said Sarah Margon, Washington director of Human Rights Watch. "In many ways, I guess it's a reward. Ethiopia at this time doesn't deserve that."
Ahead of Obama's arrival, the Ethiopian government released several journalists and bloggers it had been holding since April 2014 on charges of incitement and terrorism. Many others remain in detention.

(AP Photo/Evan Vucci)White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes defended Obama's trip, saying the stop is not a seal of approval and that the two governments share a broad set of interests. He said Obama would not shy away from raising differences of opinion, including human rights.

Another touchy subject for their discussions would be gay rights, which Obama championed while in Kenya.

Snoop Dogg Arrested In Sweden

Snoop Dogg Arrested in Sweden, Claims Racial Profiling: 'They Didn't Find S**t'Snoop Dogg was arrested in Sweden Saturday, and he's not letting the incident pass quietly.
The "Gin & Juice" rapper performed in the the city of Uppsala, where he was later taken into custody by police. Snoop Dogg claimed the incident was a case of "racial profiling."
The 43-year-old California native made a number of NSFW videos detailing the evening. His first post of the night let fans know that his crew was being "sweated by the cops." Towards the end of the clip, Snoop turned the camera on the officer arresting him. A friend can be heard in the background asking "what do we have" that's suspicious.
He then posted two videos from the back of a police car, both captioned "ftp." "Pulled a n***a over for nothin'," he said from the backseat. "Taking us to the station where I’ve got to go pee in a cup for nothin'. I ain’t done nothin'. All I did was came to this country and did a concert, and now I've got to go to the police station. For nothin’!"
While still in the car, Snoop apologized to his fans in Sweden, telling them he wouldn’t be returning to their country -- the first but not the last time he'd make that statement during his ordeal.

The mother of Mexico’s most notorious drug lord says he gets unfairly blamed for everything

Inside a solitary pink home on the hillside of a two-road Mexican town is the mother of the world's most notorious drug lord."I call him Chapo, my son," Consuelo Loera said in an interview for the PBS Frontline documentaryDrug Lord: The Legend of Shorty.
Loera recounts that as a child her son, Sinaloa cartel kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" or "Shorty" Guzmán Loera, was very ambitious."I remember he had a lot of paper money, little notes of 50s and 5s. He’d count and recount them and then tie them up in little piles," Loera said smiling.
"It was just colored paper but they looked real," she added.
Loera's son, now 60 years old, sold oranges to make a living before his uncle introduced him to the drug business.

Guzmán, at the helm of the world's largest drug empire and once listed on Forbes' billionaires list, triggered a massive manhunt after pulling off an extraordinary escape from Mexico's highest-security prison earlier this month.
"He's blamed for everything. If someone's caught, they say he's involved. If something happens, the government blames him. He's their target," Loera said.
Although she describes him as a scapegoat, Guzmán had amassed so much power and influence behind bars that he succeeded in taking over the last two Mexican prisons that failed to hold him.

Saudi king Hits French Beach

Vallauris (France) (AFP) - King Salman of Saudi Arabia is expected to arrive in France later Friday for a Riviera beach holiday, bringing with him no fewer than 1,000 people from his entourage.
While the king's three-week visit is a boon for the local economy, it has also sparked anger due to the closure of a public beach for the privacy and security of the royal party.
The king's inner circle will be put up at the family's private villa, which stretches across a kilometre of Riviera coastline between Antibes and Marseille.
Some 700 other members of his entourage will be accommodated at top hotels on the promenade in Cannes.

"Clearly this is good news," said Michel Chevillon, president of an association representing hotel managers in Cannes.
"These are people with great purchasing power which will pep up not only the luxury hotel industry but also the retail and tourism sectors of the town," said Chevillon.
But not everyone is happy.

The Saudis also generated a great deal of anger by starting work on an elevator from the beach to the villa, which involved pouring a huge slab of cement directly on to the sand.
A petition against the "privatisation" of the public beach gathered more than 45,000 signatures in eight days.

"We ask the state to guarantee the fundamental principle of the equality of all citizens before the law," the text added.
"We're sick and tired of this messing around," said a local woman, more succinctly.

"I can see it's normal that you need to guarantee their security but they should let us go for a swim."
